Terms of service.

The agreement between you and SailQuery LLC for use of Niche. Plain English. By following a briefing, creating an account, or connecting an assistant, you agree to these terms.

1. Who we are

Niche is a service operated by SailQuery LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”). It follows a field, checks what people in that field are talking about against independent sources, and delivers a short briefing: the stories that held up, why they matter, and where they came from. “Niche” or “the Service” means the website at nicheangle.com, the briefing emails, and the API and assistant (MCP) access that read the same briefings.

2. Following, accounts, and eligibility

Following by email

You can follow a ready-made briefing with an email address alone. We send one confirmation message first and nothing else until you click the link in it. Every briefing carries a one-click unsubscribe.

Accounts

An account is needed for Pro and for assistant access. Accounts are individual; one person per account. You are responsible for activity under your sign-in. Niche uses Supabase Auth; Google sign-in is available.

Age

You must be at least 16 years old to use Niche.

3. Free and Pro

Free

Following any ready-made briefing is free: it is on the site every day and in your inbox once a week. Every source and every count is shown.

Pro

Pro is $12 a month or $120 a year. It adds the briefing by email every day or on the days you pick, up to five niches described in your own words, angles on every story, the briefing archive, and assistant access. Prices may change; we will tell you before a change affects your next renewal.

Billing and renewal

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store card numbers. Pro renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel; cancelling keeps Pro until the period ends. Billing details and invoices are in the Stripe customer portal from your account page.

Failed payments

If a renewal fails, we retry and email you. Pro features pause until a payment succeeds; your follows and settings stay.

Refunds

Subscription fees are non-refundable except where the law requires. We may grant a refund for a service failure on our side; email support@nicheangle.com.

4. What a briefing is, and is not

A briefing summarizes reporting and discussion published by others. We show the sources behind every story and count how many independent sources back it, and we say so when a story rests on one. The summaries and the “why it matters” lines are produced with language models from the source material and may contain errors.

A briefing is information, not advice. It is not financial, legal, medical, or professional advice, and it is not a recommendation to act. Check the sources before you rely on a story, write about it, or make a decision from it. Linked sources belong to their publishers; we do not control them and they can change or disappear.

5. Assistant and API access

Your assistant can read the same briefings over MCP or the API with a personal access token from your account. Keep tokens private; activity under a token counts as yours, and you can revoke a token at any time. Pro features stay Pro over the assistant surface, and requests are rate limited.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Follow a briefing with an email address that is not yours, or sign up on someone else’s behalf without their permission.
  • Copy briefings at scale, resell them, or republish them as a product of your own.
  • Use the Service to train, fine-tune, or benchmark a machine-learning model without our written permission.
  • Probe, scan, or attempt to bypass our authentication, rate limits, or security controls.
  • Interfere with delivery to other followers, or use the follow forms to send mail to others.

We may suspend or end access that breaks these rules, with notice where the situation allows.

7. Ownership

Briefings

The briefings, summaries, counts, and the site are ours. You may read, quote, and share them for your own work, with the source links intact.

Your niches and settings

The niche descriptions you write and the choices you make (what you follow, when it arrives) are yours. You give us the license needed to build and deliver your briefings from them.

Source material

Articles, filings, posts, and other material a briefing links to belong to their publishers and are used under their terms.

8. Service availability

We aim for a briefing every day the field moves, but we do not guarantee uptime, delivery times, or that every edition arrives. The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. Quiet days are reported as quiet. Outages at providers we rely on (hosting, email delivery, search, model providers) can interrupt service.

9. Termination

You can unsubscribe from any briefing, cancel Pro, or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access for breach of these terms or to protect the Service or other users. On termination your access ends and your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Sections that should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, governing law) survive.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY BRIEFING IS COMPLETE, CURRENT, OR ACCURATE.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SAILQUERY LLC’S TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR $12 IF YOU HAVE PAID NOTHING. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS OR DATA, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.

12. Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify SailQuery LLC and its affiliates against claims, damages, and expenses arising out of (a) what you publish or decide using a briefing, (b) your breach of these terms or applicable law, or (c) your violation of a third party’s rights.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Maryland, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. Nothing in this section limits your right to bring a small-claims action in your local jurisdiction.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here and, where it matters to you, announced by email. Continued use of Niche after a change takes effect means you accept it.
